One thing that is vitally important to a good scrapper is some pretty good organizational skills. This is especially important as you acquire more goodies for your scrapping collection. One of the things that I actually had the hardest time organizing was all my many many stickers! I went through several different methods before I found the one that worked for me. Now just because that method works for me doesn't mean that same method works for everyone which is why I'm going to show you several different ways to organize your stickers and the pros and cons of each so that you can maximize your scrapping experience!
Clip-it-ups and like products Method
Pros - This is a low maintenance solution for storing your stickers and the really thing cool about organizing your stickers this way is that you can see them all easily. For many crafters the more you see an item the more likely you are to actually use it!
Cons - The Clip it up and like products can be pricey especially if you need to hold a lot of stickers. The clip it up currently costs around $60 and similar products are comparable in pricing however you can often find a used one cheaper on ebay. There is also a standing version of the clip it up and that costs about $150. This method also limits your ability to very easily organize by theme thereby causing you that have to look through more stickers to find the one you want. Also this organizational method does take up a lot of space and since it sits on a table, desk, or shelve (unless you get the standing version), every scrapper knows, it's taking up prime real estate.
Binder Method
Pros - The Binder Organizational method gives you a lot of versatility in how you want to group your stickers, by color, theme, season, brand, etc. You can also make a table of contents (if you have a lot of stickers) to find them quickly and effortlessly. The binder method also displays the stickers so that you can easily see them which is a huge plus! Also for the most part the this method doesn't take up a ton of room.
Cons - This method does have it's own limitations. First, it's a pain to get them all in the binder! As you add stickers to your collection you also have to do a lot of reorganizing and unless you think far off in the future to what you might potentially buy this method doesn't allow you to reorganize very easily. It can be very bulky so it's not super easy to bring to crops. Also there is only so much you can fit in your binder so you might have to get multiple binders which can get pricey if you are using binders made specifically for scrapbook stickers.
File Folder Method
Pros - This is my personal favorite because it's the method that seems to work the best with the way I scrapbook. Of course, in my opinion it has a lot of pros:) First, it's very cost effective! You can get a lot of file folders extremely inexpensively almost anymore. Also with these folders, again, there is a lot of versatility in the way you organize as with the binder method - by theme, event, color, holiday, and so on. When I pull stickers for a project it's super simple to just grab the folder with the theme of the project I'm working on so that I'm not looking through a bunch of stickers just to get to the ones I want. Also with this method it is easy to expand you just pop your new stickers in the folder and you're done! You can even use clear folders so that you can see the stickers more easily.
Cons - Depending on how many stickers you have, this method has the potential to take up a lot of room. I personally have all my stickers in file folders in a couple of my desk drawers however my desk is make specifically to be able to hold file folders easily. If you are using your file folders in boxes then that could take up a lot of room. This method also, to at least some extent, hinders your ability to see all the stickers at a glance even if you are using clear folders. If you label the folders well you might be able to see the theme easily but you'll still need to look through that whole folder to find just the right pack of stickers you want to use.
Finding the right sticker organizational method might take a little experimenting to find which solution works the best with how you love to scrapbook. You might even find some version of organizing them that combines a couple of these methods. Whatever you choose hopefully that method will allow you to really see what you have and what you don't have - that will help you to decide what you might like to purchase in the future. Finally the method you choose should help you to scrapbook even better, using all those many wonderful stickers, thickers, and dimensionals to create your gorgeous works of art!
